BCG Vaccine
Routine vaccination:
- Should be given at birth or at first contact
Catch up vaccination:
- May be given up to 5 years
- If no scar up to 6 months after vaccination, BCG may be repeated once
- For rare BCG adenitis which is fluctuant, repeated needle aspiration should be done. Excision is indicated when repeated aspiration fails.
In case of disseminated BCG infection, consider Chronic Granulomatous Disease (GCD), Severe Combined Immuno Deficiency (SCID), HIV, Mendelian Susceptibility to Mycobacterial Diseases (MSMD).
